What has shipped

Every entry below is live in production, with the app version it shipped in, so you can check it against your own store. Work that is finished but not yet deployed is not listed here.

  1. Fix order-genie-02-44

Genie works on stores where another app already uses /apps/chat

The widget used to assume it could reach us at one fixed address. On a store where that address was already taken, Shopify quietly moved us elsewhere and the widget went on talking to the old one — so it sat there looking installed and answered nothing, with no error to explain it. It now asks Shopify where it actually lives. If you installed Genie and it never replied, this was why.

  2. Improvement order-genie-02-44

Shopify Sidekick answers about escalated questions, in plainer terms

The two tools Genie exposes to Shopify Sidekick were narrowed to the thing they are actually for: the questions Genie could not answer and handed to you. They no longer carry priority levels or an assignee, which never matched how a small shop works.

  3. Security order-genie-02-43

Every storefront request is verified by Shopify before it reaches us

Requests from your storefront now travel through Shopify’s app proxy, which signs them, and anything arriving without a valid signature is refused. Shopify — not the caller — decides which store a request belongs to and which customer is signed in, so neither can be forged. Outside development the server refuses to start with this check disabled.

This list starts where we started recording app versions against releases. Older changes shipped before that and are not reconstructed here — we would rather show a short list we can prove than a long one we cannot.
